Welcome to Sinenjongo Bafazi
Built by Women. Rooted in Purpose. Always Growing.
Sinenjongo Bafazi Soweto is a faith-driven community of married women in Soweto growing wealth, building homes, and uplifting each other and their community one month at a time.
Who We Are
A sisterhood with a name of purpose.
Sinenjongo Bafazi Soweto was founded in 2023 by Madibuseng, a Soweto woman with a clear vision: that married women, when they come together with purpose and discipline, can build more than they ever could alone.
Our name says it all. Sinenjongo Bafazi translates from isiXhosa as “We have a vision, women.” It is not just what we are called. It is how we live and operate every single month.
We are a group of married women between the ages of 30 and 60, based in and around Soweto, Gauteng. Each month we contribute toward each other’s homes and futures, guided by our faith, our values, and a shared belief in the power of Ubuntu. We also give back to the broader Soweto community through donations and upliftment projects, and we carry the tradition of makoti identity and cultural pride as one of our most defining qualities.
We were inspired by the Sinenjongo Bafazi Gauteng group that came before us, and we are proud to be affiliated with KeZaka, a nationally recognised platform that supports stokvels and community groups across South Africa.
This is more than a stokvel. This is a movement in motion.
What We Do
Five ways we build, invest, and give.
Home Building Fund
_____________
Every member contributes R3,000 per month toward our collective home-building fund. These contributions are directed at building and improving the homes of our members, one family at a time. It is structured, accountable, and real.
Collective Investment
_____________
Beyond individual home building, the group channels its collective resources into broader financial opportunities including community-based property investment and savings initiatives designed to grow long-term group wealth.
Community Upliftment
_____________
We show up for the families around us. Through initiatives such as sanitary pad donations and community outreach, Sinenjongo Bafazi Soweto invests in the wellbeing of women and children in Soweto who need it most.
Monthly Meetings
_____________
Every first week of the month, members come together to learn, grow, and hold each other accountable. These meetings are not just financial check-ins. They are spaces of shared wisdom, encouragement, and growth.
Makoti Mentorship
_____________
We carry the tradition of guiding young makoti in the values of respect, love, and cultural identity. A formal mentorship programme is in development. In the meantime, we lead by example in everything we do.
Mission Statement
To create a structured, faith-driven platform where married women in Soweto grow together financially, invest in their communities, and mentor the next generation of makoti in the values of respect, dignity, and purpose.
Vision Statement
To be a thriving community of empowered women who build lasting wealth, strengthen their homes, and uplift the families around them.
Why Trust Us
Grounded in community. Backed by credibility.
Active and Consistent Since 2023
Sinenjongo Bafazi Soweto has been meeting every first week of the month without fail since our founding in 2023. Our members show up, contribute, and build. That consistency is the foundation of everything we do.
R3,000 Monthly Per Member
Each member contributes R3,000 every month toward the group fund. This is not a casual commitment. It is a serious, disciplined financial structure that demonstrates the group’s integrity and collective ambition.
Connected to a Larger Movement
Sinenjongo Bafazi Soweto was inspired by and remains connected to the Sinenjongo Bafazi Gauteng group. We are part of a growing network of purposeful women building homes and wealth across the province.
What membership in Sinenjongo Bafazi Soweto means for you.
Your monthly contribution goes directly toward building your home. This is not abstract savings. It is bricks and mortar.
Surround yourself with married women who share your values, your ambitions, and your cultural identity. This is a community that understands where you come from and where you are going.
As a member you gain access to group investment opportunities in property and savings that you would not be able to access alone.
Our monthly meetings are spaces of genuine learning, shared experience, and mutual accountability.
